All the events in the program of the Official Visit of the Russian Retail Delegation are PRIVATE, attendance for the registered delegates only.

The program of the official visit of the Russian Retail Delegation is drafted in a way that all the participants can get maximum benefits from attending NRF Retail's Big Show, getting to know US retail sector, communication with each other and leaders of retail companies from other countries.

Also program includes the negotiations with headliners, stores overview and professional reference visits to the most innovative stores and number of interesting places for evening entertainment.

As before, the organizers are going to present only the best, innovative and the most useful ideas for retail for the Russian delegation. As soon as we get relevant confirmations, our program will be more precise. Please, stay tuned! We are also open to your questions, offers and ideas.

To provide an indication of the Russian delegation activities in New York, we added to the program some details of our previous year’s visits, as well as links to the news and photo reports.


January 13, 2018, Saturday

Morning

The official flight of the delegation is Aeroflot flight SU-100 Moscow - New York.

7.30 – 9.00 meeting with the delegation's members, taking the flight SU-100 by Aeroflot. All delegates will receive backpacks with all useful and necessary for the visit.

Location: Sheremetyevo airport, near the baggage drop-off points.

Afternoon

12.25 Transfer from John F. Kennedy Airport to the hotel. On the way to Manhattan will be enough time to check the sights, talk, share the experience and expectations or just chill after the flight.

Evening

20.00 – 22.00 Welcome Cocktail Party. Start of the delegation’s work, presentation of the program, acquaintance and informal communication of the delegation. It’s time to meet friends, get to know new people, express expectations and simply switch to a New York rhythm.

January 14, 2018, Sunday

Morning

7.00 – 8.30 Redis Retail Run. Jogging around the Central Park will wake up your brain and help to cheer up for the most efficient work. Everyone chooses their own pace depending on personal physical fitness. The goal is to set your brain to business and get pleasure. The participants of last year Redis Retail Run still recalling that freshening New York morning and a wonderful run through the Central Park.

Location: the Central Park.


Afternoon

09.30 transfer from hotel CitizenM to Walmart Supercenter.


11.00 – 13.00 Reference visit to a famous American retailer supercenter Walmart Teterboro New Jersey.1 Teterboro Landing Dr, Teterboro, NJ 0760

14.30 – 15.15 Reference visit to b8ta fagship store - a new kind of retail store designed for discovering, trying, and buying new tech products.  151 W 34th St, New York, NY 10001


Evening

19.00 – 00.00 Traditional party in the Onegin Restaurant. Onegin is a special place for gathering of Russian participants of the Retail's Big Show, that first time took place in 2013. For many people this place has become the starting point of new acquaintances, new ideas and projects. Now the dinner in Onegin is compulsory in the Russian delegation program.

January 15, 2018, Monday

Morning

8.30 – 11.30 Tie&pie. Business Breakfast with with Authentic Brands Group. The company own such brands as Aeropostale, Juicy Couture, Jones New York, Elvis Presley, Muhammad Ali, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson, Prince Tennis, Tapout, Hickey Freeman, Judith Leiber and others. ABG brands presented at Kohl's, Kmart, Sears, Macy's, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, J. C. Penney, Walmart. Great opportunity to find new partners and learn something new about US retail!

Over other business breakfasts the Russian delegation welcomed Femi Cole, Vice President, North Atlantic Operations at 7-Eleven, the largest international chain of convenience stores; Scott Wheeler, Chief Operating Officer at Purchasing Power; Peter Cobb, Co - Founder & SVP, Marketing at eBags Inc., a major U.S. online retailer specialized in all things travel; Ory Adler, Managing Director and Founder at Marketing Technology Advisors, who set up loyalty programs at Loblaw, Canada's food and pharmacy leader.


Afternoon

12.00 – 16.00 Work of the Russian delegation at Retail's Big Show 2018 officially starts. Guided tours of the Russian delegation at the Retail's Big Show 2018 are designed and arranged by Redis Crew, The Boston Consulting Group, EY, and other partners of the delegation. The route includes only those stands that deals with the most advanced actual trends and define the vector of industry development for the near, or probably, distant future. You will get a chance to communicate with representatives of the companies working at the exhibition. The route consists from two parts:

- Traditional and usually useful! The tour around the second floor of the exhibition includes visiting the stands of global companies which from year to year set trends at the market. Every name here is a brand, each development means the unique specialists and serious investments, and each result demonstrates the significant solution and offers the retailers opportunities to deal with important tasks and do effective work.

- New! The tour around the first floor where promising startups are presented. You just have to see

it, to make sure that the discoveries and new useful solutions are not missed.

Attention! The Retail's Big Show hosts a conference with quite big number of business events (the working language of the conference is English). Participation in the conference requires additional payment; the organizers will assist in purchasing tickets at a reduced price. Seminars and lectures with mark ‘for free’ may be attended by everyone.

Evening

19.00 - 22.00 Lecture on contemporary art and visit art galleries. 
The evening will begin with a visit to  Julie Saul Gallery, where will be a lecture about a story of modern art, gallery activities and major participants in the global art market.
Continue acquaintance with the cultural world of New York in Ethan Cohen Gallery, where in addition to the meeting with Ethan Cohen, group will meet Vladislav Slutskiy, curator, co-founder of the project "Eurasian cultural Alliance", the charismatic storyteller and expert on the history of postwar art. Members of the delegation will have time the buffet at that place and time for informal communication.

Morning

8.30 – 11.00 Tie&pie: Technologies that are moving forward the retail and the whole world. Business breakfast is related to the importance of technology in all aspects of business - from logistics to communication with customers, omnichannel evolution and consequences of this phenomenon, and the features which the retail can adopt from other sectors of human activity.

Headliners:

Frank Quix, managing director of Q&A, a prime retail consulting firm in the Netherlands and the
Dutch member of the Ebeltoft Group, since 2005 chair holder of the Anton Dreesmann Chair for Retail Strategy and Marketing at the University of Amsterdam. Frank is the author of many books such as Retail marketing, co-author of the Dutch Government recommendations program to prevent high vacancy of retail space, initiator and owner of The Store of the Future - laboratory of innovations in retail. Also Frank is incoming chairman of the Global Education Council of Shop Association.


Kevan Wilson, General Manager, Retail Partnerships of B8ta, the brainchild of former Nest employees, is a store solely dedicated to selling "Internet of Things" gadgets trying out a different approach to retail. One of the more interesting twists on B8ta's retail model is how the company makes money. Instead of earning some portion of the sale like traditional retail, B8ta sells space on a monthly basis. Startups just pay based on how much space they take up.

Afternoon
11.30 – 15.00 Tour around traditional and innovative stores of New York, designed and prepared by Redis Crew. A representative of the chain will meet the Russian group in each store and carry out the professional tour, speaking about the network activity including discovering something that cannot beseen in the sales area. Q&A session is included.
The route is based on recommendations of the National Retail Federation, the U.S. trade association - the organizer of the Retail's Big Show. Each year NRF monitors the New York retail sector and makes the list of the most interesting stores that apply the innovative trade formats. NRF includes not only the obvious places of well-known networks in the list, but also small, but innovative and noteworthy places. Our delegation will visit the best of them.


11.30– 12.30 Reference visit to Sonos flagship store.

The skylit space at 101 Greene Street in NYC's SoHo neighborhood has been designed to make your first or hundredth experience listening to music through Sonos "epic," but also comfortable and seamless. Leave past experiences at the door: those hushed sanctuaries selling high-end hi-fi audio equipment, home theater demos at mall stores, even Apple's brick-and-mortar stores—with seven state-of-the-art listening rooms to intimately learn (and they're hoping, fall in love with) the smart speaker system's capabilities it's easy to get comfortable and take in the music. This is something custom-built entirely for the Sonos customer—including a remarkable effort to acknowledge their place within the city's important musical heritage.

13.00– 14.00 Reference visit to the biggest New Balance store. 
One corner of the store serves as a workshop for hand-assembled shoes, each featuring a selection of colors and materials unique to that store. As a finishing touch, the shoes assembled in the store come with “NYC” stitched on the back to further distinguish them. We also will see the store’s Aetrex iStep machine, which scan a shopper’s feet to asses their pressure points to help determine the best shoe for them.

14.30– 15.15  Reference visit to the biggest The North Face store (20.000 sc m) in the world on Fifth Avenue. Explore what the two-story, flagship store has to offer including an interactive climbing wall, custom embroidery station, and products available only at this new location.

15.30 - 18.30 Reference visit to SAP Leonardo Center.

The center is providing businesses with access to SAP’s deep knowledge and leading technology capabilities across 25 industries, applied in a live technology-delivery environment. It also serve as hub for SAP’s broader digital technology ecosystem including universities, startups, tech communities and accelerators.

Evening

20.00 - 22.00 Business dinner. Closing party in the ‘Redis café’ format includes a discussion of topics and cases by the members of the delegation, who are interested in the cases as much as you are. Elaboration of a decision and subsequent presentation results that you get a dozen good ideas and even implementation plans.

Trader Joe's is a neighborhood grocery store with amazing food and drink from around the globe

(maybe a little too beloved as anyone who’s been to there on a Sunday can attest).

Afternoon

15.00 The delegation work is closed-up. Participants and organizers will be preparing to leave New York. Transfer from the hotel to John F. Kennedy Airport and departure to Moscow by Aeroflot flight SU 103, at 19.20.
